How It Works

  •  A pre-production tech scout is strongly recommended to establish the best approach for the final shots. During the scout, test images are taken on-site with less concern for lighting or site readiness. These reference shots are only used to develop the final shot list, define the client’s goals, and assess the site’s readiness for photography.

The tech scout provides an opportunity to address key project considerations, including:

    • Determining if permissions are required for photographing people or artwork

    • Identifying features to emphasize or minimize in selected views

    • Reviewing relevant materials, such as existing images, renderings, site plans, or construction progress photos

    • Confirming that construction and design phases are complete and that all lighting is fully operational

    • Establishing access times for final photography

    • Identifying any obstructions or sight-line limitations (e.g., municipal infrastructure, traffic, power lines)

    • Determining whether adjacent properties can be accessed for photography

    • Identifying any areas where camera or lighting equipment access may be restricted

    • Determining if styling, furnishing, or decluttering is needed

    • Confirming status of landscaping, signage installation and punch list work

    • Reviewing the final delivery deadline for completed files

Following the scout, a gallery of test images will be provided for client review. These images will help to inform the final shot list and plan the shooting schedule.

  • The number of shots captured per day will depend on logistics of the site and access. Interior views are often more time intensive. The goal is to maximize output while maintaining quality. The schedule will consider achievable daily output, weather conditions, and seasonal factors.

  • The creative fee day rate includes a license for client’s use of all images captured on the shoot day, in accordance with the listed terms. Up to ten (10) images are included in the day rate for final digital processing, which consists of standard color and tonal adjustments, as well as minor retouching and compositing for tonal balance or multiple elements.

Because digital post-production work can often require more time than the photography itself, additional images beyond the ten (10) per day are billed at a per-file processing fee.

Requests requiring extensive or advanced retouching will be billed hourly. RAW files are not supplied. Final deliverables consist of high-resolution TIFFs and web-resolution JPEGs, delivered electronically via secure FTP or equivalent method.
